We’ve appointed an expert to increase sustainability & environmental responsibility

Jasun Envirocares newly appointed Sustainability and Compliance Manager Ionie Lee Smallwood 333

We’ve recently appointed a dedicated Sustainability and Compliance Manager (March 2025).

Ionie-Lee Smallwood’s role underscores our unwavering commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility.

Our Managing Director Colin Hitch says “Ionie-Lee will lead the development and implementation of Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) across our diverse product portfolio.

Transparent documentation

“This process involves creating transparent, independently verified documentation detailing each product’s environmental impact throughout its lifecycle. Through providing these comprehensive insights, we will empower our customers to make informed, eco-conscious decisions that align with their sustainability initiatives.”

Navigating the development of EPDs enables us to be at the forefront of sustainable innovation and environmental responsibility in our industry.

Extensive expertise

Colin adds: “As our Sustainability and Compliance Manager, Ionie-Lee brings extensive expertise from a diverse career spanning the sustainability sector and compliance. With a strong background in auditing, sustainability consulting, benchmarking and environmental compliance, she has worked across various industries to drive sustainable practices and ensure regulatory adherence.

“Her experience includes developing tailored Net Zero strategies to reduce an organisation’s environmental impact, leading benchmarking activities and compliance audits, extensive project management and guiding organisations toward greener operations.”

Sustainable Development Goals

Beyond driving environmental compliance, Ionie-Lee’s role also supports sales and business development efforts to extend our outreach and broaden our client base.

Ionie-Lee says: “I’m delighted to be joining the Jasun Envirocare team and undertaking this vital work with the organisation. Through showcasing the added value of our sustainable products, I aim to connect with a wider audience of customers, highlighting how Jasun’s solutions can contribute to their environmental goals in line with the appropriate United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) notably:

  • “Goal 7: Affordable and Clean Energy – adopting renewable energy sources in manufacturing processes.
  • Goal 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure – developing sustainable, resource-efficient manufacturing practices and innovations.
  • Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production – through minimising waste, increasing resource efficiency, and implementing sustainable production methods.
  • Goal 13: Climate Action – reducing greenhouse gas emissions and adopting environmentally friendly practices.
  • Goal 14: Life Below Water – limiting pollution and waste that could impact marine ecosystems.
  • Goal 15: Life on Land – ensuring raw materials are sourced sustainably and ecosystems are preserved.”

Importance of sustainability

Ionie-Lee will support us with her expertise and experience to ensure our messaging emphasises the importance of sustainability, while addressing the unique needs of different industries across our client portfolio.

Colin continues: “This dual focus on environmental impact and strategic organic growth ensures that we not only meet current market demands but also helps us shape our future defined by accountability, innovation and environmental stewardship.”

We’re extending out Bridgwater premises further to meet international demand

We’re investing in extending our headquarters in Bridgwater to help cover growing demand for our products worldwide (January 2025).

We’re spending £300,000 to add to our Riverside House premises as part of our ongoing growth plans for 2025 and beyond.

Growing demand

Our Chairman, Graham Bentley says “We’ve seen demand for our products grow dramatically from Europe in the last few years, particularly since setting up operations in France in 2014 and Spain in 2018.

“Our new building at Riverside will help us meet international requests for our products, speed up the process and allow us to sell more too.

Export despatch

“Having our two subsidiary companies in Europe has helped us significantly increase our export work, despite issues related to Brexit. At Riverside we’re building a 2,300 square feet extension purely for export despatch.

“It is being managed by our main contractor, Salter Civils and Groundworks and we’re hoping it will be completed and operational in the spring.

Market commitment

“This extension and financial investment symbolise our commitment to our international market and to Bridgwater, as this represents a boost to the local economy.”
